Crew 4 Boats
There are a number of San Diego boats pictured in the Gallery. If you're interested in sailing on one of them, or if you own a boat and are looking for crew, email the "The Office" and we'll get your requests up. If your boat isn't in the Gallery, and you'd like it to be, send a photo, and we'll put you there.
Hi,
I'm an intermediate level sailor with a couple racing experiences crewing on
a NY36 (San Diego) and J105 (San Francisco) and am seeking to crew on a
fairly serious boat 30' and up.
I can handle jib trim and most other positions with a little refreshing and mentoring. I'd like to learn more race tactics and theory.
Some of my other experience: As a former resident of Seattle area, I have cruised and gunkholed in San
Juan Islands extensively in a San Juan 28 as skipper. I took 10-day offshore sailing class in Caribbean on 60' steel ketch to
learn offshore navigation and radar. I've daysailed Catalina 27 and 30's numerous times off Newport Beach as
member of Lido Sailing Club and went through their qualification checks. Former member of Torrey Pines Club and took out Victory 21's in SD Bay and
had lots of fun on Lasers and Catamarans in Mission Bay.
I'm 5'8", 167 lbs, 46 years old, athletic, reliable, and not a whiner. I like to place well, but I am not into killing to win (well, not usually). I live in Bay Park, just 10 minutes from Shelter Island so I am usually available if you need a quick replacement.

Just moved to San Diego from North Carolina, where I have sailed for five years. I have experience @ jib/main/spinnaker, mast and some foredeck work. Have crewed on a Tartan Pride 27, Pearson 28, Irwin 30, Hunter 375, J24, and a Tripp 26 at Annapolis Race Week. I'm looking for a boat(s) which takes part in weekly beer cans, and in more competitive races/regattas. Would also be nice to find a boat which does distance races as well. I have 10 years experience in competitive racing, primarily on Santana 20's
and J-24's. Just moved to San Diego from Colorado and the shifty winds of lake
sailing (Dillon, Cherry Creek). I'm open to both the type of boat and the position,
but prefer not to helm. I attended J-World several years ago and campaigned
on a top ten Santana in the nationals a bit back.
I am available for weekend regattas and mid-week racing. I will work hard and
earn your respect. Please call or e-mail.
Thank you for your consideration.

If you like to go fast, are competitive, but sail because its the funest thing on earth besides surfing, please call me: 619-804-7837.

Jeff Dreher here. Veteran of Puget Sound light air racing. I have been in San Diego for nearly a year now and just lost my steady ride on a Baltic 38 due to an unfortunate broken bone incident which befell the Skipper. He will be back in action in several months, however, I am, in the meantime, in search of a friendly boat in need of crew. I am competent in most positions and am available most any weekend. My E-Mail is: JHDREHER55@HOTMAIL.COM. (posted 5/22/04.)
I have some foredeck experience and am looking for whatever rides can use me.

I'm Betty Jo and have lived in San Diego for only six months. It is my goal
this summer to get on a sail boat, learn a few things, maybe even race???
have lots of fun, and see if I might just want to buy a boat this winter. I
can get out at least two days a week and maybe some late afternoons if
anyone wants to be patient enough to teach me - I'm ready to help. I'm in
pretty good shape and agile. I've met a few people at Point Loma - any one
know Jennifer who lived and worked on her boat there for 11 years? Well,
she's back (but not sailing - she's got her own business now. Send work her
way if you need any refinishing done). email me at

eager and able-bodied and willing to learn. If you have any ideas for me,
I'd be grateful. Sincerely, --Namir

It's time to crew. I've produced and shot several sailing events including
the America's Cup for ESPN, Telemontecarlo and others, but it's a heckofa
lot more fun to actually be in the boats. I love sailing and have always
actually sailed smaller boats since I was 12 years old. I raced in college
at UCSB. I'm very competitive and in excellent physical condition. I want
to get back into it. I listen well, and understand all of the principles.
I love teamwork and enjoyable people who can laugh at themselves as well as
win. If you're looking for someone who is well rounded and a lot of fun,
pop me an email johnnym@JoeExplorer.com,

Hi! My name is Tom Hanson. I am looking to join a race crew here
in the San Diego area. My experience is limited, however I am extremely
enthusiastic and eager to learn from an experience skipper who views limited
experience and high enthusiasm as a great opportunity. Just let me know
what to pull, tug, raise or turn and it's done. I have sailed a couple of
times and been a sail trimmer on one race (which is what made me fall in love
with racing). Hope to hear from you soon. Still a lot of racing left
in the season.

My name is Bobbie, I'm 26 and I am relatively new at sailing. I have been
around boats since '94 and have lived on a boat for 3 years (a power boat so it
doesn't count for sailing experience). I have done quite a bit of day
sailing (my biggest trip was to Catalina) and maybe 2 races. I've been
to the Woman's Sailing Convention in Orange County and I learned a lot
there. I haven't been around boats in about a year and I miss it.
I'm looking for a fun, social group to go out and win some races. If
you have room for me, I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. Please email
me at

I am sending this to "everyone" as I have been given very short
notice
to put this together. So if you are interested or know some one who is
please let me know.
I need three crew to help me bring Taxi Dancer (a 70 footer, starting
the race July 1) back from the Transpac race. We would depart Honolulu
about 12-15 July and spend maybe 18 days underway.
I probably can not pay very much as all the racing owners expect to be
able to get crew to return the boat just for the experience but as late
as this is maybe some small fee could be paid.
I will not go unless i can get good crew.
Let me know.

Hi! I am new to the SD area and am interested in crewing about once a
week on a competitive, yet fun, sailboat. I am from Cleveland, OH, and
have 4 seasons of racing experience (twice a week) on Lake Erie. I
spent two seasons aboard a Pearson 30 and two seasons aboard a J35. I
also spent a few weeks aboard a J24. My specialty is the foredeck, but
I have experience with all the other positions as well, including some
helming. Further, I have a basic understanding of sail trim and tactics.
I am 33 years old, 5'9", and 160 lbs. and very reliable. I'd like to
get involved to race, "recreational" sail, further my sailing
experience, and meet new and interesting people! Hope to hear from
someone soon, as I am excited to try some ocean sailing! Thanks!

Hi... I'm a near-college grad with a dream to sail the world, and I think my
ticket to get on a boat is my tutoring abilities. Thus I'm looking for a family

cook, clean ... Please let me know (ole7132@hotmail.com) if you know where I
should be looking for such a family! Thanks
