Rainbow Regatta Press Releases
Dear Friends,
To make a dream come true . . . to bring some magic into the life of a child who struggles with a life-threatening illness . . . that is what the Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego strives to do! We have one mission and one mission only - to grant the fondest wish of every qualified child who is referred to us.
How do we do this incredible job? We do it with the love and support of people in the community - people like those from the Chula VistaYacht Club who are sponsoring the annual Rainbow Regatta in August to benefit Make-A-Wish. We do it with the support of people like you, who we call on to help this group raise the funds necessary to make wishes come true for these special children.
We urge you to support the Rainbow Regatta and the people who have chosen to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. You can help us by helping them!
At Make-A-Wish no wish is too difficult to fulfi1l, we have no limiting quota, and there is never any cost to the family. From a laptop computer for a child who spends too much time in hospitals to a dream vacation in Disney World for the entire family - Make-A-Wish does it all. With a small staff, hundreds of volunteers and events like this - we are proud to say - "We make magic."
Thanks for your support!
Warm regards,
Ilene Hobbs President CEO Make-A-Wish Foundation of San Diego
This is the
tenth year that Chula Vista Yacht Club has hosted a charity race, called
the RAINBOW REGATTA, to benefit local children in need. The rainbow is
universally viewed, by children, as a symbol of hope and good fortune.
CVYC is proud to be associated with the MAKE-A-WISH Foundation of San Diego
County for the last four years.
MAKE-A-WISH's mission... To make a dream come true... to bring some magic into the life of a child who struggles with a life-threatening illness... to grant the fondest wish of every qualified child who is referred to them.
How can we help? We have planned a weekend of activities. A sponsor's and skippers' party and auction Saturday night. The race on Sunday will be followed by an attitude adjustment session and awards ceremony. The average cost of granting a wish is about $4,000. All auction purchases, donations, or sponsorships will go to our own goal of funding just a few of these wishes.
To avoid protest hearings the 720 rule will be used to clear violations on the water. In the event that a protest is still needed, the form should be presented with a check for $25 made out to Rainbow Regatta (to be returned if your protest is successful).
Underwriters for this race are BOAT/ U.S. and FISERV. Please assist us in thanking them for their generosity in any contact that you might have with them.
Boats wishing to participate in the regatta that have not found a sponsor can be matched up with sponsors that have not designated a particular boat to go with their sponsorship. I am looking forward to seeing you on the water.
